Marble Rocks & Dhuandhar Falls at Jabalpur

Wonder in stones

Marble Rocks as the name goes are metamorphic rocks created out of limestone as a result of erosion and chemistry at work since thousands of years of geological changes. The River Narmada since its origin has created a narrow gorge here at Jabalpur. The river tumbles down at Dhuandhar Falls creating mesmerizing spectacle of emanating white water sprays hence the name. The Dhuandhar Falls exemplify the eye catching splendor of Narmada landscape.

The river tumbles down as a forceful stream into the gorge known as Marble Rocks or Bheraghatin Hindi .  Marble Rock formation is one of the most beautiful gorges in the world. The colors embedded on the rock surface accord phenomenal beauty to the formation. The colors on the stones are of dazzling hues that like an artist’s plate strikes you with amazing alacrity.

Boating pleasure at Bheraghatis experiencing the tranquil calm of deceptively turbulent down streams below the surface. The surrounding mountains of marble bejeweled by fantastic array of colors are a feast to the eyes. Boating on full moonlit night enhances the pleasure and bold patterns turn into subtle hues under shafts of light beams.
Notable points on way to the falls are bizarre rock formations and sandy stopovers where shooting of many a Bollywood films have taken place. Marble Rocks is a must visit destination in Jabalpur in Central India. It is about thirteen kilometers from the town and easily accessible by road transport. Nearby place of interest is Chausath Yogini Temple complex.
